Jordan S. Wideman
Family Law Associate Attorney
To me, family doesn’t have one definition. Family is always what you want it to be. Family for
me, has never been about blood relation. My family was comprised of people that were worthy
of my love and attention, because they reciprocated it. But no matter who they were, those
that are family, mean the world to me. It always allowed me to empathize with others about
how they should want to protect their own families.
Public Service is something that runs in blood. My father has over 30 years of service as both a
firefighter and policeman. My mother was a social worker in child support and my brother is
currently a firefighter. Though I never expressed it out loud, being a family law attorney
seemed destined for me. Extending a helping hand is all I saw my entire life.
Prior to having my law degree, I worked with youth programs with kids. This was the first time I
recognized my desire to care for others. In child education and services, I took on a role of
being somewhat of an extended family member for a lot of those kids and their families. That
desire to preserve and help a family, never left me.
My entire life I watched those close to me help others in their time of need. Being a help to
others is a natural passion of mine, I couldn’t turn it off if I tried. Family law allows me the
chance to not only help people, but to reassure them that they still have control over what is
most important to them, family.
I am the first attorney in my family, but this accomplishment was the reward of more than just
my hard work. My hard work at Modern Legal is a symbol of my families love and support
allowing me to achieve my passion every day. That same love and support is an additional
motivation to have me carry out my passion by advocating for the families that come into the
office.
