January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Modern Legal cares deeply about this issue and will be bringing you more information and opportunities to lend a helping hand over time.
For now, we would like to help raise awareness by introducing you to N.C. Project No Rest and to their video series on the topic. If you are unaware of North Carolina’s role in this horrendous criminal activity, these videos will help you speed around the learning curve.
According to the organization’s website:
Project No Rest is a statewide project to increase awareness and prevention around human trafficking and how it affects our children, young people, and adults in North Carolina. The organization has partnered with The UNC School of Social Work to advance our goal: to shine a light into the shadow that is human trafficking and to reduce the number of youth trafficked while improving the lives of those affected by trafficking. This channel will serve to provide educational resources and videos that illustrate and demonstrate the many ways that human trafficking can begin and what the survivors can look like. By continually learning about human trafficking and the ways that it can begin and be sustained, the organization hopes to help anyone in these situations to find their path to freedom and healing.
While Modern Legal is unaffiliated with N.C. Project No Rest, we appreciate the non-profit’s work on behalf of human trafficking victims in North Carolina. You can watch the organization’s entire video series on their YouTube Channel.
If you, or someone you know, is in need of help, or you suspect human trafficking activity, you should contact the National Human Trafficking hotline, via TEXT at BeFree (233733) or CALL (888) 373-7888.
If you are a victim of human trafficking, know that you are not alone. There are many of us fighting for you every day.
