What are the Benefits of a Virtual Attorney?

Have you ever just wanted to stay home and relax, especially in these chilly temperatures? Or, in more dire circumstances, have you thought it almost impossible to get all the way to an attorney’s office when you need to address an urgent legal concern?

One of the benefits to having a virtual attorney is that you can get legal help right from the comfort and convenience of your own home. As a virtual attorney, we can meet via video chat or by phone to discuss your case and to strategize the next steps. This allows you more flexibility to work, spend time with your family, or sneak in that extra errand. For the busy person, virtual is the way to go to resolving your legal needs.

The world as we know it is quickly adopting more virtual tools. With every new store, game, or service, there is an app for that! Legal services are no different. Our team wants to provide clients with the modern convenience of virtual legal services with the quality of services provided in all of our cases. As a virtual attorney, I have access to the case file, calendar, other team members, and the courts with the click of a button. You get the full resources of an in-person attorney without the hassle and cost of having to meet in-person every step of the way.

As of February 2023, the North Carolina Courts in Wake County, Harnett County, Johnston County, and Lee County went live on an eCourts system. By October 2023, Mecklenburg County followed suit. This means that not only can legal documents be found online, but also new matters and documents can be filed online as well. An additional twelve counties will be launching the eCourts system in February 2024, with the remainder of the state to follow shortly thereafter. As a virtual attorney, I can file pleadings as if I were going to the Courthouse without the added time and travel costs associated with being in-person at the Courthouse.

If you are juggling a job, a family, and other obligations or if you simply do not want to venture out of your home to discuss your legal rights with an attorney, a virtual attorney may be a great fit for you and your situation. Building a connection with a virtual attorney can be the key to unlocking and resolving your family law matters, all from the comfort and convenience of home.

If you or someone you care about is looking for a Virtual Family Law Attorney, our Modern Legal Team is here to help.

Please note: these educational materials are based on North Carolina law where my legal practice is based. While the insights may have wide applicability, readers should consult with an attorney regarding the specific laws in their state or country.
